Settings
MixRestore's settings let you customize scanning behavior and project management.
Scan directories
Configure which directories MixRestore searches when scanning for projects. By default, it looks in common Ableton project locations:
~/Music/Ableton~/Documents
You can add or remove directories from the scan list in Settings. MixRestore searches
recursively within each directory for .als files.
Ignored paths
If certain folders contain Ableton projects you don't want to track (e.g., tutorial files or archived work), add them to the ignored paths list. They won't appear in scan results.
Ignored files (Git)
Each tracked project has a .gitignore file that controls which files
are excluded from version tracking. By default, MixRestore ignores:
Backup/— Ableton's automatic backup folder*.undo— Undo history files- OS files like
.DS_Store
You can customize the .gitignore to exclude large sample folders
or other files you don't need versioned.
